{"id":8997,"date":"2014-07-24T10:25:43","date_gmt":"2014-07-24T17:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/birdaz.com\/blog\/?p=8997"},"modified":"2014-07-24T10:26:26","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T17:26:26","slug":"big-moth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/birdaz.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/24\/big-moth\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Moth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I tagged along on Dan and David&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/ebird.org\/ebird\/hotspot\/L207576\">Brookdale Park<\/a> walk this morning, curious to see what it was like as the annual Joldrums descend on New Jersey&#8217;s woodlands. And it was pretty much as you&#8217;d expect: the odd eastern wood-pewee whining from the treetops, blue jays slipping through the foliage, chimney swifts and barn swallows hunting the skies. Very pleasant, very enjoyable, but not overly birdy.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"big silk moth by Rick Wright, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/14754607323\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3884\/14754607323_7f64475168_z.jpg\" alt=\"big silk moth\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The big find of the morning, for me at least, was this enormous silk moth, a polyphemus, if my primitive picture-matching led me aright.
