I got to see a single jackrabbit, and the highlight of our whale &#8220;watch&#8221; were the close views of California sea-lions.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"California sea lion\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/31840222820\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/376\/31840222820_ea8294037a.jpg\" alt=\"California sea lion\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Common birds all, but great to see them at the Estero San Jos\u00e9:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Estero San Jose cinnamon teal, blue-winged teal, northern shoveler, white-faced ibis]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/32097369011\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/561\/32097369011_e9a5a330f0.jpg\" alt=\"Estero San Jose cinnamon teal, blue-winged teal, northern shoveler, white-faced ibis]\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m very glad iguanas are vegetarian.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"iguana\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/31840448530\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/723\/31840448530_1ebddf1130.jpg\" alt=\"iguana\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This was my first opportunity to see <strong>California scrub jays<\/strong> after the resplit this past summer.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"California scrub-jay\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/31374801644\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/476\/31374801644_e7471533f3.jpg\" alt=\"California scrub-jay\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>With an astronomical telescope and some luck, I could have been watching <strong>Baird&#8217;s juncos<\/strong> and <strong>royal terns<\/strong> all at once.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Sierra Laguna\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/31405879773\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/687\/31405879773_d5ea9f7324.jpg\" alt=\"Sierra Laguna\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This photo &#8212; below even my usual low standard &#8212; at least shows the brown nape patch said to be shown by almost all <strong>Baird&#8217;s juncos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Baird's junco\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rickwright\/32067505592\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/352\/32067505592_4372662fec.jpg\" alt=\"Baird's junco\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Tourists come to Baja for the sun.
