MEGA: Oriental Turtle-Dove in British Columbia

By Rick Wright

A first-basic Oriental Turtle-Dove was photographed a few minutes ago at Alaksen NWA, British Columbia. The bird’s origin is likely to be questioned, of course, but its age might suggest a genuine vagrant.

We have a Ringed Turtle Dove (Streptapelia risaria) showed up in our location at Shotbolt Bay in Rivers Inlet on the central coast of British Columbia. May 22 2011. According to my book it should not be here. I will try for a pic if it hangs around for a bit.

Update. Didn’t get a picture but did get a better id and the bird is an Eurasian Collared Dove.
